Indianapolis Colts: T.Y. Hilton has Career Day vs. New England

There’s not too many bright spots to point at when the Indianapolis Colts lose 59-24 to the New England Patriots. Once though is how big rookie T.Y. Hilton came up. Hilton, finished the day with six receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns.  That was the most yards today for the Colts and tied for the second most receptions.

It was the third time the rookie has topped the 100-yard receiving mark for a game as he’s still the only one of two rookie receivers to do even eclipse 100 yards receiving in a game. The youngster out of Florida International has shown that he’s going to be a factor in the NFL for many years and should be a big part of this offense for many years.

What’s scary for the league is a Hilton was a fourth round pick and has done better than every receiver before him. Mix that with another year with Reggie Wayne and fellow rookie receiver LaVon Brazill and this team has a solid young core of receivers. Also, the Colts have the most cap room out of anyone in the league next year and could sign another talented free agent wide receiver to join this team next season and beyond.

Hilton, though is going to be a part of the Colts’ new found success for many years. He’s so quick and hard to bring down in screen plays. He’s also tough to keep up with on deep routes and will only get better as time goes on. Credit Colts’ GM Ryan Grigson on the find and expect big things out of Hilton.
