After a week of turmoil surrounding the New York Jets, the Jets put all the distractions aside for as big road win over the St. Louis Rams in St. Louis. They played a good game on both sides of the ball and this was probably one of their better wins as team this season. The Jets got off to a slow start, but settled down to dominate the Rams 27-13.
The defense set the tone for the game as they got pressure on Rams quarterback Sam Bradford and forced 3 turnovers. Most of those turnovers happened on the Rams side of the field. The defense was all over the field where ever the ball and played aggressively. The defense disguised their blitzes and coverages to confuse Bradford. There was always some in his face when he threw the ball and his receivers were not open at all for most of the game. You have to give coach Rex Ryan a lot of credit for putting together the defensive game plan because it was perfect.
The offense was pretty efficient as well. They didn’t turn the football over during the game and avoided the mistakes that had been plaguing them in recent weeks. The offense did have some troubles in the red zone settling for field goals, but in the 2nd half the Rams defense got worn out from being on the field too long. The Jets grounded and pounded them for over 130 yards rushing. Running back Bilal Powell scored two touchdowns in the second half to put the game on ice.
The Jets get a big road win. Now the question is can they build off of this win and get on a run? The Jets have a short week and play Thanksgiving night at home game against the New England Patriots so there isn’t a lot of time to dwell on this win they have to get ready to play in a hurry.
