New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston has been having another great season for the team and has been the best wide receiver for the Saints this season. On the season, Colston has 51 receptions for 721 yards and seven touchdowns. Colston is on pace for yet another 1,000+ receiving yards season and has been a consistent threat for the Saints’ offense.

In the Saints’ 38-17 win over Oakland Raiders, Colston only had four receptions for 69 yards and no touchdowns. Despite his subpar game, Colston still made a nice impact on the offense and became the third New Orleans Saint in history to have 500 receptions for his career. Colston already set the Saints’ touchdown reception with 52 touchdowns back in week five but has since extended his receiving touchdown record to 55.

With his 500 receptions Colston only trails Saints’ greats Eric Martin (532) and Joe Horn (523). Furthermore, Colston only needs one more touchdown to set the Saints’ all-time touchdown record. Colston’s 55 touchdowns ties Deuce Mcallister for all-time in Saints’ history and with one more touchdown he will break the record.

It will be tough for Colston to break the record next week as the Saints will be facing a tough San Francisco 49ers defense. Unless Colston suffers a season-ending injury he will surely break the record at some point this season with six games left to be played.

Once Colston breaks the record he will cement his name in Saints’ history and he has already solidified himself as the greatest wide receiver in Saints’ history. Not bad for a seventh-round draft pick out of Hofstra.
