If Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall is trying to be the ultimate “bad boy” in the NFL, he’s doing a very good job of it. When he’s not getting into a fight with a player on the field, he’s verbally abusing an official. If he’s not doing that, he’s finding other ways to be a jerk.
Today he got into a verbal altercation with a reporter in the locker room. Rich Campbell of the Washington Times reports that Hall became aggravated by something fellow Washington Times reporter Mike Jones wrote last week and that Hall became “profane” and “non-physical” with Jones.
The issue Hall was disputing is something that Jones wrote in regards to a meeting Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett had with the secondary last week. And for some reason that brought on this response from Hall today, “Back up off me, bro.”
We always hear about a player saying something that was reported didn’t happen or how they were misquoted but as usual Hall raises the stakes. I don’t know how anyone else would have handled it but it always seems like DeAngelo Hall handles things incorrectly.
If this story was about any other player it may not have been news but since Hall is one of the NFL’s biggest hot heads and was just fined $30,000 a few weeks ago for an altercation with an official, it’s going to make headlines. I have no idea if he’ll be fined for this latest incident but it’s clear that even in his 9th year in the league, he still has anger management issues.
If Hall’s name was mentioned for his play on the field half as much as it is for being a knucklehead, he’d be an All-Pro.
