It was announced that Buffalo Bills running back, C.J. Spiller (pictured above) was named starter over Fred Jackson (pictured below) for at least this weekend versus the Indianapolis Colts. This could be Spiller’s big breakout as the Colts have a history of being weak against the run.
Spiller has been a dynamic and intelligent running back to say the least this year. He has learned a few things this season as well; he was dancing around in the previous two seasons and realized that getting four yards a carry and not having to hit the home run every carry is a successful carry as the home runs will come.
So far this year, he has 1,056 yards from scrimmage this year and it breaks down as 723 yards rushing on 109 carries with four touchdown runs, and 31 catches and 336 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. This is all while only officially starting three games this year for the Bills.
With Spiller named official starter this could also mean the formal changing of the guard in Buffalo, which I am okay with as he is 25 years old, and while Jackson is 31, but that’s just my take, what do you all think? Let me know!
