As expected, the Arizona Cardinals placed C Lyle Sendlein on the injured reserve. He tore his MCL early in the game against the St. Louis Rams and played through it like the “boss” he has been his entire career. The Cardinals re-signed linemen Scott Wedige to fill his roster spot. Wedige was with the team in training camp and has been with the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals this year.

It would be stupid to throw Wedige right into the action, so my guess is the move was made to add depth to an offensive line that is very thin. The Cardinals are hurting emotionally and physically after suffering their seventh straight loss on Sunday to the Rams. This re-sign ultimately does nothing for the Cardinals. If they thought he added talent to the roster, he would have already been on the team.

This was a move made out of peer necessity. The Cardinals needed somebody who knows the system at least a little bit, that way if somebody goes down, they can put him into action. The man expected to be thrown into this game is G Rich Orhnberger. He is naturally a guard, and I’m sure Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt does not want a young center snapping the ball to a rookie QB, so I expect the Cardinals will slide one of their veteran guards over.

I have already said the Cardinals’ Season is over. They have had too many problems with injuries and inconsistent play on the offensive side of the ball. The real question is, do fans think it’s best for the Cardinals to play for a better draft pick?
