By now I’m sure we’ve all heard about or seen the petition started by a “Steven M” asking the President of The United States of America, Barack Obama, to remove Jerry Jones as the Dallas Cowboys owner.
The idea is pretty self explanatory. Mr. “M” wants Jerry Jones ousted as the Cowboys owner. The petition is gaining strength and earlier today, it had close to 700 signatures on it.
As usual with the Dallas Cowboys, I am in complete amazement. Even when it’s nothing the organization or the players did to shock me, a misguided fan comes around to surprise us all. Here’s a sample of how the petition reads:
“We, the Citizens of the Great State of Texas, and Dallas Cowboys fans worldwide, have been oppressed by an over controlling, delusional, oppressive dictator for way too long.”
Speaking of delusional, I present Mr. Steven “M.” Does he actually think the United States Government would step in and remove Jones as the owner of the Cowboys?
Just as we all know that Jerry Jones will never step down as General Manager or give up ownership of the team, we know that nothing will come of this petition. Sure, Steven “M” will get plenty of signatures and that shows the passion of the Dallas Cowboys fan base but it also shows that anyone who signs it are just as delusional as Jones.
If the petition reaches 15,000 signatures, the White House does have to issue a response to it, but that number probably won’t even be hit.
Jerry Jones annually sets the bar too high for the Cowboys and it raises the expectations of the fans. His delusions of how good his Cowboys will be every year sets them up for failure and brings along success starved fans for the ride.
However, signing the petition will do no good. It won’t get Jerry Jones’ attention and it won’t change his mind about owning the team. He’ll probably shrug it off or make a joke of it, but anyone who thinks it’ll make a difference is just as delusion as the owner himself.
So go on and sign the petition, Cowboys fans. Just know that by doing so, you’ve reached a level of delusion you thought was saved only for Jerry Jones.
At this rate, you too can be the Cowboys GM too!
