Tennessee Titans Dismiss Offensive Coordinator Chris Palmer
This evening the Tennessee Titans decided that their record might have a little something to do with the lack of offense. Thus they have chosen to dismiss Offensive Coordinator Chris Palmer. They have named quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains as the new offensive coordinator.
Make not mistake, the NFL is a family no doubt, but it is very competitive at the same time. If something is not getting done, then it needs to be fixed. Head coach Mike Munchak was the man making the decisions Monday night and he was the one that informed Palmer of the decision.
Munchak was available for comments after the dismissal and stated that he still does have much respect for Palmer, clearly because they brought him on the team. But he also didn’t think the offense was producing well under his coaching.
“I believe we needed a change in direction and I hope to see that progress in our remaining games. Dowell has worked here for a number of years under some very successful coordinators and he is ready for this challenge.”
I know the two are close, I met them both about a month ago during the Titans Football 101 fundraiser for breast cancer, but can you blame the organization? Sometimes it’s the only choice they have. And a new direction is what Tennessee needs right now.
With five games left in the regular season the Titans have some serious work to do especially considering the embarrassing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars during week 12. I’m not going to sit here and say it’s for better or worse here. I honestly have no idea what to think anymore. Everyone will just have to sit back and see what happens in the final weeks of the season.
