Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III is already having a tremendous initial season thus far in the NFL, racking up accomplishments left and right. Now the first-year signal caller can add owner of the league’s top selling jersey to his already stacked resume.
According to the league front office, which quoted sales from its official website NFLShop.com, the player affectionately known as RGIII has now surpassed all other players and sits atop this list with sales from April 1 until November 27.
In second place on the list was the man Griffin replaced at the top of the list, Denver Broncos quarterback and MVP candidate Peyton Manning. After RGIII and Manning on the list came four more signal callers in the top six. They include Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers at three, New York Giants quarterback and Peyton’s brother Eli Manning at four, New England Patriots signal caller Tom Brady at five and at number six is Griffin’s rookie counterpart, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
Up next on the list at seven is New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz followed by New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow, who ranks in the top 10 despite only playing in two hand fulls of plays this season. Rounding out the top 10 are Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu who has also played sparingly this season (however his lack of playing time is due to injury and not ineffectiveness) and San Francisco 49ers All-Pro linebacker Patrick Willis at nine and 10, respectively.
