Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas Receives Praise From Peyton Manning
- Ron Chenoy – US Presswire
Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas has been great in his third season as a pro after two years of injuries and two average quarterbacks. Everybody knew he had the size, speed and athletic ability to be a talented NFL receiver, he just needed to get healthy and it doesn’t hurt to have a future Hall of Fame QB throwing you the ball in Peyton Manning.
Is it just the quarterback that made the difference or is this guy just simply that talented? I know the QB helps, but Manning seems to suggest that Thomas is simply a solid receiver. When speaking about his young 6-foot-3, 229-lbs teammate, Manning had this to say:
“He’s a receiver with just a tremendous amount of talent. The needle is just pointing upward. I just want to see him continue to improve like I know he can.”
Thomas has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season after 11 games with 61 receptions and six touchdowns. When speaking about Thomas’ stats, Manning said, “That’s a great start. He and I talked the other day. A thousand yards is not the barrier for him. He has higher goals and we have higher standards for him on that, especially in a 16-game season. But his size and his speed are very rare. There are certain things he can do that other guys can’t do.”
It’s obvious that Manning thinks very highly of Thomas and the future Hall of Famer has been around several top notch receivers, so to this kind of praise should make Thomas feel special.
Broncos fans appreciate Thomas just as much as Manning and also have higher hopes for him in the coming years. Thomas may be the next Hall of Fame receiver whose career is sparked by perhaps the greatest QB to ever play the game.
