DeMarco Murray appears to be on track to return this weekend as the Dallas Cowboys welcome the Philadelphia Eagles to town on Sunday night. Murray has missed the last six games for the Cowboys and would be a welcome addition to the offense.
Both Adam Schefter and Todd Archer from ESPN are reporting that Murray is likely back this week.
The Cowboys running game hasn’t been great all year but the return of Murray would surely bring an added boost because of his blend of power and speed. Dallas hasn’t gotten enough out of Felix Jones or Lance Dunbar in Murray’s absence and both look more like change of pace backs. That fits right into what the Cowboys hope to do with Murray this weekend and going forward for the rest of the season.
The Cowboys offensive line hasn’t been a huge help with Murray but the hope is that Murray and the line can work together to produce more yards. It remains to be seen how many carries Murray will be getting and just how the Cowboys expect to use him but it’s a good sign that Murray has been able to practice this week.
It maybe it too little too late for Murray and the Cowboys, but it’s always good to get your best players back on the field and that looks to be happening this week. The Cowboys offense has missed Murray and it will be good to evaluate the offense with him in the game.
We should see just how much Murray means to the offense if he returns this week and it’s something I am looking forward too.
