Peyton Manning has thrown for 300 yards as a Denver Bronco, he has thrown for three touchdowns but he hasn’t done what he might do on Sunday versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The circumstances are set up perfectly for Manning to have his first real “big” day in the orange and blue.
Start with the fact that the offense for the Broncos has struggled a little in recent weeks, and will be looking to get back on track as the playoffs approach. Because of that, there’s not a better opponent for the Broncos than the Buccaneers. The Bucs are ranked last in pass defense and that was when they were healthy. They are missing first-team cornerbacks and safeties due to injuries and suspensions. Now you have Manning going against second and third-team players in the secondary; that by itself would be enough to predict a big day for the Broncos passing game, but there’s more.
The Buccaneers have the number one defense versus the run and the Broncos are not a great running team; you do the math. Manning is going to be putting the ball in the air a lot. Hold on, there’s even more. The Buccaneers struggle getting to the quarterback and the Broncos, outside of a couple of games, has protected Manning very well. Not quite done yet, the Buccaneers are likely to stay in the game with their offense which is very good. That means Manning will keep passing and putting up numbers.
The stars are aligned for Manning and the Broncos to get extremely healthy on offense; particularly in the passing game. I leave you with this; if you have Manning, Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker or any other Broncos’ receivers on your fantasy team, play them,
