Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning Respected Enough To Tell Fans “No Wave”
This past Sunday in a game that the Broncos won 31-23 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Manning asked the crowd by motion of his arms to stop doing the wave and quiet down. The crowd did exactly what he asked and then Manning led the Broncos to another touchdown drive.
There are not many QBs who could control a crowd like that, but when Manning makes a request others listen.
Manning later said, “I’m all for excitement, but running a no huddle offense requires many calls at the line of scrimmage and the quieter the fans are the better.”
This is something NFL teams might expect to face during a road game, but at home this should be a request the fans should be glad to oblige. The Broncos fans did exactly what he asked and if they continue to help out I am sure Manning and the Broncos will make them glad they complied.
It’s just amazing at the respect Manning receives simply by being on the field. As fans, we just need to sit back, relax and watch perhaps the greatest QB of all time.
If all goes well, maybe Manning will help bring the Broncos and their fans another Super Bowl. I’m sure Manning is ready to win a second ring as well.
