Bad news hit for the Buffalo Bills while emerging victorious versus the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday. While they won the game 34-18, they might have lost one of their main pieces yesterday.

Veteran center Eric Wood partially tore his MCL and will be out for the next two weeks. This could become huge since the Bills need to win out in order to even have a shot for the playoffs this season, which has been the bane to the city of Buffalo’s existence because they haven’t made the playoffs since 1999.

I think the center is the most important part of the offensive line. To compare it to the human body, the left side of the ball is your skin–flexible, resilient, and a protector. The right side is all of your muscle holding the body and skin all together. Finally, the center is the heart and brain of the body as centers help the quarterback pick up blitz coverages, controls the quarterbacks’ cadence via snapping the ball at the right time and such. No other position in football asks a player to do so much and to not get consistent credit for doing an amazing job.

The good that can be brought out of this injury is that Kraig Urbik will side in at center and will do solid job and undrafted rookie David Snow will be named starting right guard. I hope he can provide, even if it’s for only the two weeks as a solid foundation so our running backs and quarterback can do their job effectively. But that’s just my take, what do you all think? Let me know!
