Washington Redskins’ QB Robert Griffin III Already Haunts the New York Giants’ Nightmares

Robert Griffin III has been getting into opposing players’ heads since he came to the league. Some players in the NFC East have not exactly been praising the heavens for RG3 landing in their division.

“I am pretty mad at the football gods for putting him in the NFC East. To face that guy twice a year is going to be a headache.” –said Justin Tuck after the New York Giants played their first game against the new-look Washington Redskins.

Since that game, RG3 was named a team captain and led the Washington Redskins to their first Thanksgiving day victory ever. They had been 0-6 against the Dallas Cowboys on Turkey Day since the NFL merger. Griffin had a perfect passer rating against the Philadelphia Eagles and a near perfect rating against the Cowboys.

And since that game Justin Tuck and the other Giants have had time to watch film of the rookie, which caused Tuck to say that:

“Until I exit stage right, it seems like he’s going to be a fixture in my dreams and nightmares.”

This is coming from the defensive end of a two-time Super Bowl champion; that is pretty remarkable.

Coach Mike Shanahan has not been shy about the play of his rookie quarterback either.

“It’s almost scary to see how fast he’s learning,” says Shanahan. “I’ve never seen anyone this young this good.”

Well, I know that you won’t be able to drag me from the front of a TV Monday night, and though I don’t think it is a sure thing the Redskins win, I do believe they have a quarterback now who can do something electric on the biggest of stages. Griffin already conquered the Redskins Turkey Day Curse, and now it looks like he has already gotten into the Giants’ collective heads. Now we’ll see what he can do with his first Monday Night Football appearance with the Redskins’ season on the line.

Will the New York Giants be having nightmares Monday night after seeing a play like this?

Or will they end the Redskins season on football’s biggest stage?
