NFL Power Rankings: The Arizona Cardinals are This Bad

When an NFL team loses eight games in a row, it is not unlucky. Yes, the Arizona Cardinals have been rocked by injuries since before Week 1, but eight losses in a row is something that can be avoided. Following their Week 13 loss to the New York Jets, the Cardinals dropped another two spots, according to the ESPN Power Rankings, and with the way their schedule plays out, they might not win another game at all this season.

How bad is this Cardinals team?

Their record is probably pretty accurate at this point of the season, but it’s how they got there that puzzles this writer. They won their first four games this season and were ranked in the top five in the NFL. Next, their number 1 quarterback gets hurt and they lose eight games in a row. Yes, QB Kevin Kolb is the number one guy, I do not care for your opinion otherwise. He has proved it and the Cardinals have not fielded another quarterback that put up even half of his effort.

What is next for the Cardinals?

Well, as far as I am concerned, it’s time to throw in the towel. They shouldn’t lose there next four games on purpose, but games against the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers are going to be crazy tough. The only winnable game is against the Lions and that is still not going to be fun.

Having said all of that, I still think the Cardinals should start Kolb if he is healthy. Fans might be excited to watch a game and they should be the only thing on the mind of the organization after failing them these past eight weeks.
