The Indianapolis Colts are on a huge high right now. They’re winners of six of their last seven games and have only lost one game since the second week of October. Counter that with a last second emotional road win last week against the Detroit Lions and playoff talk getting louder and they could lose focus on a bad Tennessee Titans game Sunday and lose.
This team is young and most likely overlooking this game for the road match-up with the Houston Texans the following week and looking forward to the playoffs. What they may fail to look at is they have a divisional opponent coming in wanting revenge for the overtime loss they had at home to the Colts earlier this year.
The Titans are now basically out of the playoff hunt as they only have four wins entering this Sunday. They’ve got nothing else to play for other than to win a divisional game. The Colts though are young and may not realize how big divisional games are as they’ve only played three thus far.
If the Colts can show poise and jump on the Titans early, they should cruise to their ninth victory of the season and go 3-1 in division play so far this year. That is huge for a team in a rebuilding mode, but first step is to avoid the emotional hangover.
The Titans will start Jake Locker for the first time ever against the Colts and want any kind of spark they can find. They’re coming in hungry to beat a rival and want to stick it to a playoff caliber team at home. We will see how grown up the Colts are this weekend.
