Oakland Raiders: Peyton Manning could have MVP performance Thursday night
The Oakland Raiders have struggled on defense all year long, and now they have the challenge to face one of the best quarterbacks in the entire league in Peyton Manning.
Manning is leading the Denver Broncos to be the best team in the AFC West, and he is on pace to be up for the Most Valuable Player award. He has close competition with Tom Brady and dark horses like rookie and replacement Andrew Luck.
Manning will have a chance to make some space against other MVP candidates because the Raider’s secondary has been one of the worst all season. The Raiders will face a tough enough task to just stop them from scoring, never mind that Manning could probably easily pick apart the defense.
It may get ugly and ugly fast for the Raiders. Manning’s arm may look weaker, but he is still having a great year and is staying pretty accurate on throws.
The Raiders will need to play a good defense in the back-field, while only rushing maybe four players at most to put pressure on Manning. The best way to beat Manning is by getting pressure on him, but also having a good disguise in the backfield. Nothing is ever impossible in football, so the Raiders could challenge Manning, but on paper, the Raiders are in way over their heads.
The Raiders (3-9) host the Broncos (9-3) on Thursday night at 8:20 pm. This is Manning’s game to win, while also making a statement that he is the best quarterback in the league.
