Robert Griffin III Wants To Convert LeBron James into a Washington Redskins Fan

Robert Griffin III has had a pretty good month. After his Washington Redskins team started the season 3-6, they have since won three in a row all against NFC East opponents. RG3 also helped the Redskins win their first Thanksgiving Day game ever as well as win their first Monday Night Football game in their last seven tries.

RG3’s mojo apparently rubbed off on the Washington Wizards last night as they defeated the defending champion Miami Heat for only their second win of the season. LeBron James had a triple-double in the loss.

Griffin was there with a few teammates like outside linebacker Brian Orakpo, wide receivers Leonard Hankerson, Santana Moss and Joshua Morgan, tight end Fred Davis and long snapper Nick Sundberg.

Griffin tweeted this after the game: “My first Wizard’s Game? Was a great one!”

Griffin III was cheered by the fans in attendance when they put the electric rookie quarterback’s image up on the video board during the game. Griffin was humbled by the reception, but wants to keep up the ‘Skins recent success.

“You’ve got to appreciate everything,” Griffin III said. “You don’t ever come somewhere expecting that everyone is going to love on you. You’ve got to earn it. Certainly we’ve earned it this year, and hopefully we’ll continue to do that.”

Griffin also apparently knows LeBron is a Dallas Cowboys fan, but hopes he can change that in the future.

“He is a big Cowboys fan,” Griffin III said of King James. “But hopefully we can convert him.”

LeBron embraced RG3 after the game and I could see this as the beginning of RG3 playing in some off-season basketball tournaments with LeBron. Griffin did throw down a windmill on Trent Richardson before the draft and has also challenged Brittany Griner to a dunk contest.

Redskins fans are probably hoping he stays off the hard court, though. They are already nervous enough every time Griffin gets hit on Sundays.
