New York Jets: Landry Brothers Meet for First Time

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

The Landry brothers are set to face each for the first time in their professional careers as the New York Jets take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field.  LaRon Landry is in his first season as a Jet and has had a very good season as he’s dressed in every game this season after only playing in 17 the previous two seasons with the Washington Redskins.  He’s made 79 combined tackles with four forced fumbles and two interceptions on the season.  He returned an interception for a touchdown in the Jets win earlier this season against the Miami Dolphins.

Dawan Landry is in his second season with the Jaguars after playing the first five years of his career with the Baltimore Ravens.  Landry played under Rex Ryan when he was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore.  He has 82 combined tackles and one interception for the Jaguars this season.

The brothers would have played each other back in 2009 when the Ravens and Redskins met in week 14 of the regular season but Dawan Landry missed the game due to injury.  The Ravens defeated the Redskins that day by a score of 24-10.  LaRon Landry had two tackles and an interception in the loss.  Both teams also played each other in the preseason in 2007 and 2009.

They both play the safety position since coming into the NFL.  Dawan was drafted in the fifth round by the Ravens in the 2006 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech.  LaRon was the Redskin’s first pick in the 2007 draft when he was the sixth overall pick out of LSU.

The two are very close and could potentially meet on the field at the same time.  LaRon plays special teams so look for the potential matchup between the two.  Dawan wears the number 26 while LaRon wears jersey number 30.
