The New York Jets prepare for a familiar foe today in Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne.  Henne has played four games against the Jets as a member of the Miami Dolphins.  He owns a career record of 3-1 vs. the Jets while throwing six touchdown passes to only one interception.

Henne defeated the Jets twice in Rex Ryan’s rookie year of 2009.  In the first meeting in October ,Henne completed 20-of-26 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-27 Dolphin win.  The next month, the Dolphins beat the Jets in New York by a score of 30-25 with Henne connecting on 12-of-21 passes for 112 yards and one score.

He last matched up with the Jets in 2010 and split both games.  He had a huge game against them in a September 31-23 defeat.  He completed 26-of-44 passing attempts for 363 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.  In the next game, Henne completed only 5-of-18 passes for 55 yards and one touchdown in the Dolphins 10-6 win.  Henne has completed 63-of-109 passes for 771 yards against the Jets.

Jaguars starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert is currently on injured reserve after being hurt against the Houston Texans on the first drive of the game.  Henne has a chance to possibly win the starting job for the Jaguars next season as he’s played well since taking over.  He threw for 354 yards in the overtime loss to the Texans and led the team to only their second win of the season the following week against the Tennessee Titans.

Mark Sanchez and Henne were supposed to the future star quarterbacks in the AFC East while Henne was still in Miami.  As of now it looks like neither will be stars but both have a chance today to hold onto starting positions as the season winds down.
