The Arizona Cardinals have become one of the worst teams in the National Football League after starting 4-0 this season and have now lost eight straight games coming into Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. The biggest issue for Arizona right now is their quarterback and if the Cardinals are smart, they will make a run at Alex Smith in free agency this off-season. Smith just might be able to lead Arizona back from the deep hole they are presently in.
The Cardinals have been sending Ryan Lindley and John Skelton out there in recent weeks and while the team traded for Kevin Kolb just a couple seasons ago, that hasn’t worked out. Arizona needs to try someone else yet again because Kurt Warner or Neil Lomax aren’t coming out of retirement to save this team. It would help if the team had any sort of running game but Beanie Wells has been hurt a ton in his career. The player I feel most sorry for is Larry Fitzgerald, who can’t get a quarterback to find him in the passing game.
Smith would at least bring starting experience to a team that really needed it and has now got past the No. 1 draft pick bust comments. If Smith doesn’t get re-signed by the San Francisco 49ers after this season, the Cardinals must be ready to pounce on Smith as soon as free agency begins. It’s not like the NFC West is an overly great division outside of San Francisco. The fans of Arizona need this move to take place as soon as possible.
