Week 14 NFL Heroes and Goats

Every week in the NFL there are heroes and goats, and this week is no different. Week 14 saw some amazing performances, as well as some absolute duds. In this new weekly segment I’m going to take you through the heroes of the NFL week that was, as well as the goats. There are criteria for the weekly winners and just because you threw for 400 yards and 3 touchdowns doesn’t necessarily land you on this list. Of you put up great numbers and you blow the game for your team, you could be a goat. It also works vice versa, it you stink it up all day but make the big plays at the end to win the game, you could wind up being a hero! We don’t know who it’s going to be from week to week; sometimes it’ll be obvious who it’ll be, other times you may be surprised.

This is the NFL where things can change pretty quickly and going from hero to goat may not take much but landing on this list will either be the worst thing that you want to happen or the best thing that ever happened! You could also be a hero one week, only to find yourself the goat the next because this list does not play favorites or look into the future; it’s all about what happened this week in the NFL. So who made this week’s list of heroes and goats? The only way to know is to click here.

Week 14 Heroes and Goats:

5. Goat: Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh comes in at number 5 because he refuses to understand how to pay smart football. His dumb penalty caused a drive to continue for the Green Bay Packers, a drive that led to a touchdown and the Lions never recovered. Dumb play by a dumb player.

4. Goat: Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler ranks at number 4 this week; he did not have his best game against the Minnesota Vikings. He completed only half of his passes and threw two costly interceptions. Granted he was being harassed on most of the afternoon but he wasn’t sharp at all.

3. Goat: Jonathan Freeny

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jonathan Freeny comes in at number 3 because of his careless mistake on the punt that he should have downed at the 1-inch line. Instead, he became lazy and nonchalantly stepped on the goal line and thought nothing of it. A little more awareness would have been a big help to the Dolphins.

2. Goat: Arizona Cardinals

I don’t know where the blame lies but when you’re team performs that poorly, I have to blame them all. The Arizona Cardinals were absolutely awful against the Seahawks last Sunday, in every phase of the game. One of the worst performances by a team all year and that’s why they land on this list as a group at number 2.

1. Goat: Houston Texans Defense

The Houston Texans defense was bad last night in a big game. It was supposed to be the biggest game in their franchises history and the defense laid an egg. They got beat by the running game and Tom Brady so that’s why they land at number 1 on the goat list for week 14.

5. Hero: Nick Foles

Rookie Nick Foles is number 5 on the heroes list after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a big comeback win over the Bucs. The final drive was great work by Foles and he threw for 381 yards and two touchdowns, while also running for a third. Impressive day for Foles.

4. Hero: Cam Newton

Cam Newton also had a big day at quarterback in the Carolina Panthers upset over the Falcons, so he comes in at number 4. He put up over 400 yards of offense and three touchdowns. It was one of Newton’s best performances of his career and certainly his top effort this season.

3. Hero: Josh McDaniels

Josh McDaniels is number 3 because he had a great game plan to beat the Houston Texans last night and his offense executed it to perfection. They even used some plays the Texans use on offense to beat them at their own game. The Pats offense is rolling right now and McDaniels is a big reason for that.

2. Hero: David Wilson

New York Giants running back David Wilson checks in at number 2 and the numbers he put up on Sunday were amazing. He rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. In total, he had 327 yards and three touchdowns. Impressive game from the rookie.

1. Hero: Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys get the top billing on the heroes list after coming together and finding a way to win in honor of their fallen teammate Jerry Brown. It wasn’t pretty but they got the job done by fighting through injury and adversity to get a big win on the road. The Cowboys are the biggest heroes in week 14 for obvious reasons.
