NFL Rumors: New York Giants Without Two Members Of Their Secondary Sunday?

The New York Giants may go into their game with the Atlanta Falcons a little beat up in their secondary. When you’re going up against a team that has the weapons of Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez, the last thing you need is to be down two members of your secondary, let alone two starting members.

Prince Amukamara sat out practice today with a hamstring injury. He apparently injured it last week. He also tore his hamstring while in college, however, this doesn’t appear to be as bad. Kenny Phillips may not be available this week either as he continues to battle issues with his knee.

Without Phillips and Amukamara, the Giants will have to rely on two rookies in Jayron Hosley and Will Hill. Hill has been impressive since coming back from his suspension as well as being a huge part of their special teams coverage  including the forced fumble he caused last week.

This is why you need to build up your depth on your team. Just because two of your starters are out, doesn’t mean that you can’t compete. Hosley and Hill are certainly capable of filling in and doing a good job. What will also help is the pass rush getting to Matt Ryan. The Giants haven’t done a good job of late getting to the quarterback, except for the game against the Green Bay Packers.

Losing two guys isn’t the end of the world. However, other people will need to step up in order to leave Atlanta with a W.
