The Chicago Bears should pursue quarterback Tim Tebow. I am not insane and it isn’t to replace quarterback Jay Cutler, but I think having a solid backup quarterback that brings a different dimension to the game would really help the Bears.
Let’s face it, Jason Campbell is terrible. He’s a fraction of his old self (and he wasn’t very good even when he was good). Tebow will give the Bears a smart football player that understands the game of football and will add a wrinkle to their offense. There have been worse backup quarterbacks, and the Bears have employed almost every single one. While there’s plenty of needs the Bears will have to address in the offseason, my guess will be that backup quarterback will be on the list. I cannot see the Bears bringing back Campbell under any circumstances, and with a potential change of coaches, Tebow may fit some different things a coach would like to do.
Now I know what many of you are thinking; if Tebow is so good why couldn’t he start for the Jets? I think this had to do with Rex Ryan‘s ego. There were no secrets made that Ryan doubted Tebow’s talents even during training camp. He’s elected to play second-year slinger Greg McElroy over Tebow. Some of this may have to do with Tebow’s contract being up at the end of the year, but this is sending Tebow a message that his days with the Jets are numbered.
