NFL Rumors: Odds of Tim Tebow Signing with Minnesota Vikings
When popular quarterbacks are likely to be on the market in the upcoming off-season, people naturally start to connect the dots and assign these players to teams. Any team that needs a quarterback is easily roped into any rumors involving one of these popular quarterbacks.
Well, Tim Tebow is likely to be one of those guys in 2013, and since some people don’t view Christian Ponder as the future of the Minnesota Vikings, they will suggest Minneapolis as a possible new home for Mr. Tebow.
That’s fine, I get it, Tebow and Adrian Peterson would make one heck of a duo on the ground, but Tebow is not going to play for the Vikings next season.
First of all, Ponder is the guy in Minnesota for at least one more year whether people like it or not. I’m not going to defend the guy’s play, because it’s no doubt been very bad at times, but he’s not going to be demoted or traded anytime soon.
Secondly, the Vikings already have a quarterback capable of running for consistent yardage, Joe Webb. The backup possesses the exact same skill set that Tebow has, and probably even throws a better spiral.
Lastly, the people in charge of the Vikings would not want the circus that surrounds Tebow to be involved with the franchise. The coaching staff is full of old-school guys: Leslie Frazier, Mike Singletary, Alan Williams. These guys would want nothing to do with all the b.s. that surrounds No. 15.
So if you hear anybody out there mentioning Tebow to the Vikings as a possibility, tell them to quit. It’s not going to happen, nor should anyone want it to happen. His services are not needed in Minneapolis, but of course one should never say never. So I’ll give this signing a snowball’s chance in that place Tebow doesn’t want to go, of happening.
