NFL Rumors: Miami Dolphins Likely to Have Top Player This Weekend

Thomas Campbell-US PRESSWIRE

The Miami Dolphins are trying for a rare 5-3 home record for their 2012 NFL season. The Buffalo Bills are in town, and word is that Miami will have one of their top players available to play despite missing most of the practices this week (Bills at Dolphins game preview is HERE).

Davone Bess is OUT, and Brian Hartline is listed as questionable. Hartline is dealing with a back issue that has held him out of practice all week, but he did practise on Friday. He was also listed as questionable in week 9, but that was a hamstring issue plus he had over 100 yards in that game so things have a great chance to work out for Hartline/Dolphins this weekend.

There are currently 14 NFL players with over 1,000 receiving yards and Hartline is one of them. The issue for Hartline has been taking it to the house. The other 13 players have are north of 1,000 average seven touchdown catches, but Hartline has just one (80-yarder at Arizona Cardinals in week 4).

The Dolphins pass game has an overall ranking of #23 in the NFL. The wide receiver cupboard is pretty bare. Bess and Hartline are by far the top targets for Ryan Tannehill, and even vs a porous Bills team this weekend we know Miami cannot afford to be without both of their top receivers.

This game vs Buffalo is going to be a game where Miami will have a chance for success on the ground, and I am excited to see what that opens up for Tannehill in play-action. I think Miami has a chance for one of their better offensive performances this weekend, but missing Hartline would really hurt. Word is he will play, and if he does I think he will get a touchdown in this game.

Thank you for checking out my work! Much appreciated.
