Even In Defeat, Tony Romo Continues To Prove His Doubters Wrong

For years, we have heard stories about how Tony Romo is not clutch. However, people are not paying attention to the wonders that he does. On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys QB stepped up time and time again to lead his team on a big comeback, even if they ended up losing.

For starters, clutch is one of the most overused words in sport.  We spend half of our time arguing about how is clutch and who isn’t.  Sometimes the overall results don’t tell the whole story.  Romo continues to play great in 4th quarters and you simply can’t put every loss on him.  There have been times that Romo has made some great plays, only to be let down by his defense.  His passer rating in 4th quarters is one of the best in history.  You are telling me he’s not clutch?  Please.

Sunday showed how great he can really be.  The team erased a 14 point lead in under six minutes, including a great two minute drill.  If he wasn’t clutch, there is no way that would have happened.  A lesser QB would have shrank from the moment and Dallas would have never had a chance to take the game to OT.

The team did end up losing.  Did Romo miss a fairly difficult throw?  Yes.  However, you can’t blame him for a fumble bouncing 20 yards and the Saints picking it up.  That’s asinine.

Romo is clutch.  You just have to look closer at the overall numbers to appreciate it.
