The 2012 season is coming to an end very shortly for the Arizona Cardinals. However, one player will have something to look forward to before next season. CB Patrick Peterson got the nod as the third corner back for the NFC. This probably does not come as a surprise to most Cardinals’ fans. Peterson has seven interceptions this year which is good enough for second in the league.
The Cardinals’ season has been disappointing for fans, but you have to remember it’s even more disappointing to the players. Personally I think the Cardinals were not looking to get called this year for the Pro Bowl. Now, Peterson will have something to remember this dismal season. The Cardinals do have five wins this year, but four of them were to start the season and then they rallied off nine straight losses.
The Cardinals can pick up part of their season if they win on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. A win would give them three victories against top five teams if you include the Seattle Seahawks in that conversation. The NFC West will send an NFL high 15 players to the Pro Bowl this year. The St. Louis Rams are the only team in the division that will not send a player from their team.
The Cardinals should not be proud of their season and neither should Peterson. It’s a total team effort and no matter how good somebody does as an individual, the team still failed. After Sunday, next season should be the only thing the Cardinals are thinking about.
