Cameron Wake Makes Pro Bowl
The Miami Dolphins brought in Cameron Wake from the CFL in 2009. Wake was in the CFL for two seasons, and he dominated in both which landed him on several NFL teams radars. He chose to sign with the Dolphins, and ‘Phins phans have been thrilled ever since.
It was announced that he has made his second Pro Bowl team for his fantastic 2012 season.
Miami switched from a 3-4 base defense to a 4-3 this season which meant a new style/scheme for Wake. He went from outside linebacker to defensive end which means he is lining up with his hand in the ground on every snap. New scheme, new position, same great results from Wake.
In 2012 Wake is at 15.0 sacks which is a new career-high. He has also forced three fumbles which ties his career-high.
All 15.0 sacks have come in the last dozen games. Wake had zero sacks the first three weeks, but he was still reeking havoc on offensive lines and opposing quarterbacks causing them to hurry several throws before they wanted to.
Personally I have thought that offensive lineman have been getting away with holding Wake an absolute ton in 2012. Whether it was the replacement refs or the real refs I was stunned almost weekly to see what I considered absolute holding infractions on Wake that went uncalled time and time again. I actually have no guess as to why/how so many calls could be missed, but I am of the opinion that his impressive stats are just the start of the story for Wake in 2012.
What has to have Dolfans thrilled is that a few months ago Wake inked a 5-year contract extension so he obviously is not the type of person to take the money and run or rest on his laurels, plus he will be a Dolphin for many years to come.
Congratulations to Cameron Wake!
