Who will be the next head coach for the Arizona Cardinals? Will it be the Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid? It’s hard to say at this point. It will come down to what the Cardinals want to invest in winning. Reid will cost some money. Jon Gruden will cost some money. If the Cardinals want to invest in the future it will cost some money. If they do not want to spend the money, then they might as well stick with Ken Whisenhunt.

The bigger question here is will Reid want to return to the NFL right away? I think he has that desire, but at the same time I think he should be an offensive coordinator and coach in waiting for a year before he returns to the pressure that comes with being a head coach. The Cardinals need an offensive genius and Reid gives them what they need. The fact that he was able to turn QB Donavan McNabb into a potential Hall of Fame candidate is huge. He turned Kevin Kolb into trade bait, and he revived Michael Vick‘s career. We won’t even talk about Jeff Garcia, but he does deserve a mention.

The Cardinals are stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment. They do not have market to bring in big players, but what they do have is a beautiful stadium that has sold out 70 plus times in a row. They need to bring in a big name coach that will attract those big name players. Offensive players to be exact. The Cardinals need to retain their core on defense, but to do that they need to get those defensive players to have faith in the offense.

The Cardinals can win with Kolb, but to be a legitimate playoff contender they need to bring in a guy that has something to prove. Vick is that guy. It is kind of a slap in the face to Kolb, but the NFL is a business and the team needs to make a decision that is best for the team. Vick gives this team the best chance to make the playoffs.
