The NFL announced the playoff schedule yesterday for the 2013 postseason. They also announced via their media site what the compensation would be for the players on teams in the playoffs.
Players on the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings will get $20,000 for making an appearance in their games this weekend. The Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, Washington Redskins, and Green Bay Packers will also get paid for their games, but with them being division champions they will get a $2,000 bonus and receive $22,000.
The other division champs that have a bye (Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers) will also receive the $22,000 bonus for playing in the divisional round.
The wildcard round winners will receive an added $22,000 dollars for winning their first game and playing in the divisional round. That will be added to the money already received. Meaning if a wildcard team wins the $22,000 will be added to their $20,000 already received and if the division champ wins they will get $22,000 added to their original $22,000.
The winner’s of the divisional round will get $40,000 for playing in the conference championship games. Like the divisional round it will be added to the total already earned.
Then, the two teams that will represent their respective conference in the Super Bowl will get compensated again. Each player on the champion team will receive $88,000 while every player on the losing team will get $44,000.
It’s safe to say getting this added bonus is well received among the locker rooms as the pay check increases each round they advance.
