Predicting 2013 NFL Thanksgiving Games
The 2012 National Football League regular season is now in the books and with that, 20 of the league’s 32 teams are already looking ahead to next season. I have decided that it is worth a try to see if I can predict which teams will be playing on Thanksgiving Day in 2013. Thanksgiving is late in 2013 on Nov. 28 so it is over ten months away until the games but why not give it a try? Here is what I’ve come up with for the three games on Thanksgiving.
The Detroit Lions always open the Thanksgiving schedule and I believe they will play the Chicago Bears. It has been over a decade since these two teams played on the holiday and a divisional matchup is always something that the networks want on the holiday. With the 2013 game on Fox in Detroit, this is very logical. The late game will have the host Dallas Cowboys facing Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Yes, Denver just played on Thanksgiving in 2009 but CBS won’t be able to resist a matchup of Manning against Tony Romo and the ratings that come with that. It is also an inter-conference matchup which is normal for Thanksgiving and this game should be a great one to see.
The final game of the night will be a battle of second-year quarterbacks with the Indianapolis Colts facing the Seattle Seahawks. It is two up and coming teams with Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson. I think this could be the game of the day if it happens on Thanksgiving with the solid Seattle defense against Luck in his second year. Nothing like predicting games nearly a year in advance.
