Time For Devin Hester To Leave Chicago Bears

When the Chicago Bears fired Lovie Smith on Monday, there were comments made by Devin Hester about how he wasn’t sure if he wanted to play anymore with Smith fired and blamed the media and the fans. Hester I guess doesn’t realize that missing the playoffs in every year but one since the Super Bowl doesn’t work out well in the end. Hester has talked retirement and says he has for the past two years but I think Hester should just leave Chicago and go somewhere to play.

That idea would be best for him and the Bears as a whole because it is clear that Hester hasn’t been himself the last few years playing wide receiver and being very indecisive as a return man. It is a classic change of scenery idea to revive Hester’s career. He did have great times in Chicago early in his career with all the punt and kickoff return touchdowns but you don’t see any of the great returners playing for just one team for their whole career.

If Hester could find a way to get on a team where his lone job would be returning punts and kickoffs, he would be in a much-better situation. Hester is not a wide receiver at all and really only has the role of return man to lean on. It’s going to be difficult for Hester to leave Chicago for sure but with his comments about the fans, Bears fans won’t take too kindly to being called out. It was fun at Soldier Field for seven years but it is time for a fresh start for Hester.
