The Baltimore Ravens win over the Indianapolis Colts in wild-card weekend has earned them a trip to Mile High Stadium on Saturday. That is January the 12th, and less than one month ago these two played (at Baltimore) with the Denver Broncos winning their ninth straight game during their current 11 game winning streak (34-17).

The Ravens are in their fifth playoffs in their fifth season under John Harbaugh. They are 60-30 overall, and that includes 6-4 in the playoffs. They were a botched field goal attempt away from representing the AFC in the Super Bowl last season (actually there were a few key miscues that cost Baltimore that opportunity to win at New England). On the road the Ravens are 4-4 in the playoffs under Harbaugh who coached under Any Reid so he knows how to make an extended playoff run (sadly for Philadelphia Eagles fans Harbaugh does not know the thrill of coaching a Super Bowl champ).

If/when the Ravens lose their next game it will mean the end of the Ray Lewis era. The last time he faced Peyton Manning was back in 2009, and the last time he dropped Manning was 2008. For the most part Manning torched Lewis’ defenses in Ravens vs Colts tilts.

The Ravens are 4-4 on the road, while the Broncos are 7-1 at home. The Ravens will need Jim Caldwell to have a near perfect game-plan ready as they will need to score many points to stay in this game. In their last six home games the Broncos have scored in the 30’s (impressive).

As the 2013 NFL Playoffs Insider for Rant Sports I will have a game preview for you early in the week for Ravens at Broncos. One thing I will be looking at is the recent emergence of Ravens rookie running back Bernard Pierce.
