If you happened to catch the game between the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins you may have noticed Troy Aikman wasn’t exactly in the Seahawks’ corner. Throughout out the game, Joe Buck and Aikman went back and forth about how poor the Seattle defense was playing. In reality, they gave up 14 points, which is less than their season average and allowed only 203 total yards of offense. Something that is rarely accomplished in any game during the regular season. The Seahawks did it in a playoff game.
The announcers flat out said the Seahawks would not have been able to stop a healthy Robert Griffin III. This may be true, but Griffin has not been healthy for some time and still managed to keep a seven game winning streak heading into the big game on Sunday. It is clear that RGIII is the heart and soul of the Redskins. When he is not healthy they do not play as well on both sides of the ball. Aikman has never been a fan of Seattle, maybe it’s because he has had to cover a few games at Century Link Field and he did not like traveling to the great Northwest.
Aikman wanted to see RGIII get the win because it would get better coverage and I think most of the world would agree with him. The Redskins are still a fan favorite because they play with the Nation’s capital in their name. The fact is the Seahawks embarrassed the Redskins for the final three quarters of the game. There was no excitement in Aikman’s voice, only disdain for a team that will get less coverage than any other, outside the Houston Texans, moving forward.
The Seahawks will travel to take on the Atlanta Falcons next weekend. The Falcons are the number one seed in the NFC, but they have had some trouble winning playoff games with Matt Ryan leading their offense. The Seahawks are hoping to beast their way into the NFC championship. As a fan, I am hoping with all my heart that Troy Aikman and Joe Buck will get another assignment. What they said about the Seahawks today was Charles Barkley “Turrible”.
