According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network the Arizona Cardinals are negotiating with Steve Keim to be their next general Manager. A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday at 3 PM. Keim has spent 14 seasons with the Cardinals’ front office. He is likely to have some input for the Cardinals’ next head coach, but I suspect the final decision will still come from Team President Michael Bidwill.
Bidwill has been interviewing candidates across the country and the next head coach of the Cardinals should be found sometime in the next couple of weeks. The Cardinals missed their chance with new Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid, but for some this is seen as a blessing. Keim is sure to be loving the decision because he would probably not be the next GM if Reid was the coach.
Keim has some work to do alongside the future head coach. This might be the most important draft in Cardinals’ history. They are looking to compete right now and their are a few kids coming in the 2013 draft that can change the fortunes of this franchise. However, the Cardinals picked a bad time to regroup. The rest of the NFC West is very young and all have a bright future. They will have a hard time getting into the playoffs no matter how they handle the situation at hand.
As it stands, DC Ray Horton is still the best option to keep this team intact. He knows the defense well and can bring in an offensive coordinator that will call the plays. The Cardinals need a better game plan. Cardinals fans can just hope the new guy does not let them down.
