Arizona Cardinals Interview DC Ray Horton for a Second Time
Within a week the Arizona Cardinals have interviewed at least three coaches to be the next leader on the sidelines. Denver Broncos OC Mike McCoy, Cincinnati Bengals OC Jay Gruden and it looks like Ray Horton will get another chance to interview with the team. Team President Michael Bidwill might just want to give new General Manager Steve Keim a look a just what he saw in the in the current Cardinals’ defensive coordinator.
I am not sold on Ray Horton at this point and I don’t think the Cardinals are either. Horton believes the first interview went well and is excited to get going in the Cardinals’ regrouping process. Horton brings a lot of defensive knowledge to the sidelines, but I do not think that is the direction they should be going. There is nothing wrong with the defense. A defensive minded head coach will put the offense second and that is not what the Cardinals need.
I was not in the meeting and maybe he has Bidwill convinced he will put the offense first until it is balanced with the defense. With the defense they have now, the offense does not need to be great, good or even average. They just can’t be terrible like they were all year. I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I still believe bringing in Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick give this team the best chance to win right now.
He is mobile and while the Cardinals fix their current offensive line, he can keep the wolves at bay with his athletic ability. They need a quarterback that can come in and score 20 points a game. Vick can do that. When he does, they will win at least nine games. The Cardinals are determined to take their time finding a new head coach. Hopefully, that does not comeback to hurt them.
