Wild Card Weekend's One Round Mock Draft

Wild Card Weekend's One Round Mock Draft
Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

Now that the college football season is over with, now seemed like a great time to do a mock draft before the senior bowl and combine start up. Some players’ stock went up and some went down after their respective bowl games, it’s the nature of the beast that is the NFL Draft and people’s evaluations.

Tearing apart this mock draft is heavily encouraged since that is the best way to make the next mock draft can become even better and more accurate. That being said every year, at least until one team throws one heck of a curve ball and messes up every other team’s draft board and majorly reaches and shocks the crowd at Radio City Music Hall. Mock drafts are excellent ways getting a player’s name out there if they are lesser known, such as when it was projected that the Jacksonville Jaguars and other teams were considering quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the top ten of the 2011 NFL Draft. Gabbert seemingly came out of nowhere for most of the year and somehow was considered a top ten pick.

That being said, this mock draft tried to assess a team’s biggest positional need and tried to fill it with the best player possible without reaching too far down in the projected later round prospects at a specific position. Granted some teams will solely draft best player available regardless of actual need and sometimes they are successful, but not always.

If there’s a player that should be added in my next mock draft, please get a hold of me and we can discuss it more. Thank you for reading!
