Colin Kaepernick has been under the microscope ever since taking over as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. There has been talk that the team should have stuck with Alex Smith going into the playoffs. Kaepernick proved in the NFC Divisional Round that San Francisco made the right decision with a night that will go down in history as one of the greatest postseason quarterback performances ever.
Kaepernick accounted for 444 total yards, which is just shocking in itself when it doesn’t all come from the passing game as San Francisco rolled past the Green Bay Packers. I wonder if any fans in San Francisco want Smith back in the lineup now. I would think not as Kaepernick showed what kind of player he is. Kaepernick rushed for over 180 yards and single-handedly took San Francisco to the NFC Championship Game. It is clear to me now that San Francisco is the team to beat in the NFC and I have to believe that the 49ers are going to the Super Bowl at this point.
There will be fans in San Francisco who look back at the decision to put Kaepernick into the starting lineup in a couple weeks who want to go and personally thank Jim Harbaugh for his decision if the team makes the Super Bowl. It was a game that Harbaugh wanted to see out of his young quarterback just to prove the doubters wrong as well and no one can probably express how Harbaugh feels about his decision right now. Kaepernick has propelled himself into the elite of National Football League quarterbacks with that game Saturday night.
