The Atlanta Falcons Came to Play on Sunday

I would like to start off by apologizing to the Atlanta Falcons and their fans for not giving them a chance against the Seattle Seahawks. I predicted a blowout and I was wrong. The Falcons came to play on Sunday. QB Matt Ryan came out throwing darts and the Falcons defense shut the Seahawks out to start the first half of Sunday’s game. They may have let the Seahawks back into the game and even let them go up by a point, but they battled for four quarters.

The Falcons running game overshadowed RB Marshawn Lynch against one of the best defenses in the league. RB Michael Turner rushed for 98 yards on just 14 carries. It was a great game, both teams put on a show and that’s really what pro sports are all about.

This loss stung a lot for Seahawks’ fans. Falcons’ fans outclassed a lot of you on twitter and in the message boards. Nobody, including myself, was giving the number 1 seed Falcons a chance to win the game. Both teams deserve a lot of respect. You can say the Falcons receiving duo, Roddy White and Julio Jones, got the best of the Seahawks cornerbacks, Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner, but that was not the case. It was a dead lock. Both sides played well and both sides deserved to win.

The Falcons will get their tenth home game against the San Francisco 49ers this upcoming weekend. After seeing both teams play, I can honestly say it is going to be a great game. QB Colin Kaepernick showed he can win on a big stage and Ryan finally won a playoff game. This is going to be a great game and since it’s the playoffs, anything can happen.
