Teams Should Avoid Manti Te’o In The 2013 NFL Draft

Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

Manti Te’o has been all over the web lately and it is not for what you would think. Apparently, the deceased girlfriend of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish linebacker never actually existed. Strange story, right? Because of this story, teams should avoid the linebacker in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Since we deal in facts here, let’s go with his story that he had no idea what was going on.  Do you really want to waste a first round pick on a guy that gullible?  How could you fall into such a trap and not raise questions?  I think that most people would take the time to figure this stuff out.

And now it is time to focus on the possibility that he was a part of the hoax.  You can’t trust a guy like that.  If he is willing to lie about something like this and keep up the lie, there are some serious issues at play.  You have no idea what the guy is really like and no one wants to deal with someone that they simply can’t get a read on.  That would be a very bad investment for a team.

I mean, teams will take players off the board if the end up getting busted for weed.  Te’o may have created a person in order to garner sympathy for himself.  That, to me, is a whole heck of a lot worse than a marijuana bust.

We will see what happens to the linebacker in April.  Just know that this story is not going to go away.
