Seattle Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell is From Arizona

The Arizona Cardinals interviewed Seattle Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell on Wednesday in hopes of finding their new head coach. Arizona is late to the game of hiring a new coach, but they may have found their man. Bevell went to school in Arizona and his family resides there as well, so on the outside this looks like a great fit. Bevell improved the Seahawks’ offense in almost every game Seattle played last year.

The Cardinals already missed out on current San Diego Chargers’ head coach Mike McCoy and Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid. Both of these coaches would have done a better job, but that is what President Michael Bidwill gets for being a little too thorough in his head coaching search. Bevell has been coaching in the NFL since 2000. He may be finally ready to take on the top position.

I can see Bevell favoring a mobile quarterback so he can implement a similar offense he was using in Seattle. People on that list could be Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick and former player Vince Young. Let me tell you right now, bringing in Young would just add to the list of less than mediocre quarterbacks already on the roster. So that just leaves Vick. I do not think the Cardinals are willing to spend the money on Vick, but if he is released by the Eagles, I could see him trying out for the team.

Bevell makes sense to me, but fans seem to be favoring DC Ray Horton. The defensive coordinator knows the team and he could be the intensity the Cardinals need. However, he would have to have an excellent offensive coordinator in mind to help this team get out of its current funk. I don’t want to say the Cardinals’ offense was terrible in 2012, but if you look at the numbers, you will find that is the case.
