2013 NFL Mock Draft: Should the Philadelphia Eagles Draft a QB in First Round?
With Chip Kelly on board, there’s plenty of speculation regarding what the Philadelphia Eagles will do at the quarterback position considering the type of offense the new head coach likes to run. Normally, Kelly likes to have an offense in which he has a running quarterback, but with all of the questions surrounding Michael Vick and Nick Foles, would the Eagles consider using the No. 4 pick on a quarterback?
There are plenty of talented quarterbacks in this year’s draft and the key for Kelly would be whether or not he finds a player that fits his style of offense. Between the two current quarterbacks on Philadelphia’s roster, Vick would seem to be the leading candidate for the job based off what he’s capable of doing with his legs, but everybody knows that his age is beginning to have a factor when it comes to his impact on the ground.
Foles has been able to pull of a run every once in a while, but he’s nowhere even close to the type of quarterback Kelly would love to run in his system.
Obviously, there’s still plenty of time for the team to make a decision as far as what they want to do since the draft won’t be here until April, but it should be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months. Philadelphia could easily end up taking a quarterback in the later rounds, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they took a risk on one of this year’s top quarterbacks early on before they’re taken off the board later on.
