NFL Rumors: Would Matt Ryan Have Played With Shoulder Injury in Super Bowl?
Despite falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship, there’s been plenty of talk surrounding Matt Ryan and whether he would be able to play for the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XLVII had they won on Sunday. It was clear Ryan was struggling at the end of the game against the 49ers as he appeared to suffer a sprained shoulder, but one of the top NFL rumors on Monday involves the star Falcons quarterback and if he would fight off the injury for a chance to play in New Orleans?
Ryan has already been ruled out of this year’s Pro Bowl, but it’s not every day a player receives the opportunity to play in the big show–which is why it’s difficult not to wonder if Atlanta playing in the Super Bowl would have made a difference. If he was 100 percent healthy, there’s a chance the Falcons would have performed better against the 49ers in the second half, but all he can do now is wonder what could have been as the 49ers will be representing the NFC in New Orleans.
Throughout his career, Ryan has always been praised for his ability as a quarterback and there’s no question if given the opportunity–he would have done whatever it took to make sure he was playing in the Super Bowl. Hopefully, Ryan can now focus on resting his shoulder and getting healthy again so the Falcons can return even stronger in 2013 and make another run at playing in the Super Bowl.
