When the Pro Bowl rosters were announced several weeks ago, I was really hoping that Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson would make the game.
It took until after the conference championship games for it to happen, but Luck and Wilson will head to Hawaii to replace Tom Brady and Matt Ryan in the game. This is a very big deal, as there will now be three rookie quarterbacks out of six participating. It just shows yet again that finding a great quarterback early in the draft or as a diamond in the rough is becoming more than the trend than the exception.
Luck definitely had the numbers to make his case for the Indianapolis Colts but with the talent of quarterbacks in the AFC, Luck was probably the fourth choice and had to wait until now. Wilson, on the other hand, had a more difficult time making the roster, but the way that the Seattle Seahawks played late in the season, with Wilson and getting within 30 seconds of the NFC Championship Game, showed how good he truly is.
There has been a true resurgence in the quarterback position, and the last few years have seen several high picks that were used on quarterbacks work out. Luck is just another one of those living up to expectations. Wilson came out of nowhere in Seattle, and showed he is just as good as any other quarterback in the National Football League. I have to say that I’m very happy to see both of them getting the chance to be on the big stage one final time this season.
