New York Jets Are Foolish For Wanting To Trade Darrelle Revis

If there is one player in the National Football League that wide receivers fear having across from them, it is Darrelle Revis. There is now talk that the New York Jets are considering trading Revis before the 2013 season. I understand that last season was a bad one for the Jets, but trading Revis doesn’t seem like the solution to me.

Revis is the best defensive back in the whole NFL without any doubt, and any team would be lucky to have him so I’m not sure why the Jets want to trade him. Revis will be in the last year of his contract this coming season and the Jets probably would like something back for him since it is likely he will move on, but why not go for it in 2013 then? The Jets were in the AFC Championship Game twice in recent years and while the talent level just isn’t the same anymore, making an effort to be competitive in 2013 would be the best thing to do.

If the Jets do decide to trade Revis though, you can expect a pretty good return for him, even off of the ACL injury that ended the season for Revis this year. The Jets must get at least a first-round pick for Revis and another pick or player as well. It would be a tough sell for those loyal fans, so I think keeping Revis is the best way to go here. At this point however, who knows what is going on with the Jets because, every move seems like the wrong one.
