Rob Ryan Must Succeed For St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams have been in flux with their defensive coordinator position ever since the beginning of this past season. Gregg Williams was scheduled to take the job but was suspended by the National Football League, and now the team will turn to Rob Ryan to run the defense. Ryan has a job ahead of him to try to improve on a team that was near. 500 last season.

Ryan has a chip on his shoulder going into this job after leaving the Dallas Cowboys and being blamed for some things. Ryan would love to get the Rams into a position to make the Cowboys look foolish for getting rid of him. The NFC West is a tough division right now but if Ryan can improve on their defense, St. Louis could contend with the other teams there. The defense has to produce turnovers which didn’t happen much while Ryan was in Dallas and if that doesn’t happen, Ryan is going to be looking for another job.

This is a crossroads for Ryan in his career and he must take advantage of the opportunity. His father Buddy was a famed defensive coach and maybe Rob learned something along the way. If Ryan can’t get the job done in this situation, he may be looking at being on the outside in the NFL with no chances to get back in. Jeff Fisher has put a lot of faith into Ryan to make his defense as good as the other teams in the division, and must now produce.
