What Is Up For This Week For The Super Bowl XLVII Combatants?
We are now at t-minus one week until Super Bowl XLVII and at this point both teams are in New Orleans. Each team will use this week to try to deal with the craziness that is the Super Bowl, and to finalize their game plans (hopefully nothing like Bill Callahan during Super Bowl XXXVII if you believe the stories from Tim Brown that Callahan sabotaged the 2002 Oakland Raiders during this final week leading up to the big game).
The San Francisco 49ers are pretty healthy and outside of strategy their only big concern is the health of Justin Smith and his (hopefully) improving triceps. Smith is practicing and he says he is getting more and more comfortable with his injury situation so hopefully he will be a-okay.
The Baltimore Ravens have bigger injury concerns as their top tight end Dennis Pitta is dealing with a thigh issue, and on defense Dannell Ellerbe has exploded this season and has proven he is a legit linebacker for this team but he is dealing with back and ankle issues currently. Both missed practice last week, and both have fairly legit back-ups, but they are both very important for the Ravens so they will surely baby them this week (limited physical workload) to make sure they are ready to perform on Super Bowl Sunday.
One of the more interesting side-notes this week is that Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh are each preparing for their biggest moment and each would likely prefer that they be able to call each other and talk some things through with each other but clearly these two will not speak this week (I imagine they will text and such, but nothing important or football related).
As the 2013 NFL Playoffs Insider for Rant Sports I will have a detailed game preview plus a lot more during Super Bowl week, and all of my articles I have already done are RIGHT HERE. We made it through one week, and hopefully together we can make it through this week together with some info and some fun as we count down the days until Super Bowl XLVII.
