Arizona Cardinals Have a Good Showing at the Pro Bowl
If you happened to catch the Pro Bowl on Sunday, you may have noticed at least two out of the three Arizona Cardinals representing the franchise. WR Larry Fitzgerald snagged six catches for 59 yards and added another TD to his own Pro Bowl record. Fitzgerald would never say it publicly, but I can guarantee he enjoyed catching passes from “real” quarterbacks. During the season, he did not go over 1,000 yards for just the third time in his career, and just the second time when he played all 16 games.
CB Patrick Peterson also had a good showing. It seemed like he was all over the field deflecting passes and playing tough coverage all game long. It was exciting to see Cardinals representing a team that played so poorly for most of the regular season. Another Cardinals’ player on the field, Daryl Washington, recorded just one tackle on special teams, but the Pro Bowl is not really set up very well for linebackers, so it doesn’t matter.
Peterson was the only player on the team that was actually voted in. Fitzgerald was added after Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall declined because of injury, and Washington got in because NaVorro Bowman is in the Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers.
Fitzgerald still has one more award he can win this year when the NFL announces the Walter Peyton Man of the Year the night before the Super Bowl. If anybody deserves to win that particular award it’s Larry Fitzgerald. He really is an all around good guy.
